HUMAN is a specialized non-governmental organization dedicated to the sustainable development of the Himalayan region. With over 33 years of on-the-ground experience, the organization serves as a bridge between traditional Himalayan wisdom and modern scientific intervention. HUMAN operates as a technical expert and consultant for state, national, and international agencies, focusing on the intersection of ecology and economy.

Mission: To foster harmony and balance between Man and Nature through the sustainable development of natural resources in the Himalayan region. 

Vision: To empower Himalayan communities by transforming bio-resources into sustainable livelihoods while ensuring the conservation of the fragile mountain ecosystem. 


🎯 Core Objectives

 As outlined in the organizational bylaws, HUMAN focuses on two primary pillars: 

1. Research & Development (R&D) 

● Agriculture & Forestry: Implementing scientific agricultural reforms and the sustainable use of mountain forest wealth (herbs and raw materials).

● Resource Conservation: Focused research on water conservation, reforestation, and the protection of natural resources. 

● Traditional Industries: Promoting Bee-keeping (Apiculture), Organic Farming, Khadi, and Village Industries. 

● Knowledge Dissemination: Organizing workshops, publishing scientific journals/technical booklets, and promoting "Aromatic & Medicinal Plants" (MAPs)


2. Social Development 

● Community Advocacy: Acting as a liaison between the public and government to resolve regional grievances. 

● Empowerment: Dedicated programs for the upliftment of women, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and backward classes to ensure inclusive growth.

● Nursery & Production: Establishing high-quality nurseries for Himalayan medicinal plants. 

● Processing & Value Addition: Developing post-harvest technologies and product formulation.

● Farmer Network: Built a robust network of 5,000+ medicinal plant farmers for their livelihood through herbal farming. 

● Enterprise development: Developed herbal & organic product based brand β€œDr. Human” under MSME and KVIC for production of quality raw materials of medicinal plants, culinary herbs, health & wellness products (zero chemical herbal incense, hawan saamgri, herbal teas; forest & agri super seed oils) to support rural farmers (SHGs and FPCs).

● 'Bee Pahadi' Himalayan Honey Brand: Scientific beekeeping with Apis cerana indica, establishing honey production units and a Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) under the brand β€˜Bee Pahadi’. 

● Certification Milestone: Registered Kutki farmers with the Quality Council of India (QCI) for production under Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards. 

● Technologies developed: Production, processing and value addition of Timur, Badri Tulsi, Kuth, Kutki, Atis, Kapurkachri, Dandelion and got approval of QCI. 

● Policy Influence: Active contributor to the development of the Himalayan Medicinal Plants Policy. 

● Badri Cow Conservation: Working on Badri cow conservation through development of the economic model of Badri cow farming and value added products. 

● Organic farming promotion: Working on commercial bio composting and R&D on bio agents (bio-insecticide & pesticide).


Legal & Compliance Framework

 HUMAN maintains full transparency and is eligible for National and International funding through the following registrations: 

● CSR Registration: Registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) for undertaking CSR activities (Form CSR-1). 

● Tax Exemptions: Valid 12A (Trust/Society registration) and 80G (Tax deduction for donors) certifications. 

● IFMS Registration: Registered at IFMS website of the Registrar of firms, societies, and chits responsible for the registration and administration of societies under the Societies Registration Act 1860. 

● Financial Transparency: Fully integrated with the PFMS (Public Financial Management System) for seamless government grant transfers. 

● Corporate Member: Life corporate membership of National Bee Board (NBB), New Delhi. 

● Darpan Portal: Registered at NITI Ayog.
