                    “Quality planting material production of different medicinal plant species in the selected sites”

2. Description of the project:

 This project is funded by Dabur India Limited. In this project, nurseries of the medicinal plants of concern are to be developed in Chamoli and Hathoragarh districts and high quality saplings are to be produced on a large scale and clusters of these plants are to be developed in Uttarakhand, thereby fulfilling the demand of the pharmaceutical companies in the country apart from Dabur India Limited and increasing the income of the local farmers. Among the main achievements of the project –

  • Under this project, the organization prepares 5 lakh saplings of Kutki, Atish, Jatamansi, Kapoorkachri, Pushmukkal, Vanpra, Kuth, Meethavish, Tagar etc. every year and distributes them free of cost in 1000 trees in Ghesh village of Chamoli and Munsyari area of ​​Haptoragarh. 


  •  In the project, 12 training programmes are organized every year for the farmers in which complete information is provided about the cultivation of plants and production methods in the field, maintenance, harvesting, post harvesting care, quantity of medicinal elements, market etc.


  • In the last 3 years, more than 3000 farmers have been cultivated in 120 hectares of land like Kutk, Atish, Jatamansi, Kapoorkachri, Pushmukkal, Vanpasa, Kuth, Meethavish, Tagar etc., which has increased their income as well as provided protection to these species.


  • In the above project, more than 3000 farmers have been registered by linking them with Herbal Research Institute and Aromatic Plant Centre.
