   10-Year Activity & Competency Report (2016–2025)

Focus Area: Sustainable Himalayan Development, Medicinal Plants, & Scientific Apiculture

1. Executive Summary

Over the last decade, HUMAN has emerged as a premier technical and implementation partner in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). With a focus on the "Nature-Man" synergy, the organization has successfully executed 10 major multi-year projects, impacting over 5,000 farmers across Uttarakhand. Our competency lies in managing the entire value chain of Himalayan bio-resources—from scientific nursery management to market-ready branding.

2. Decade of Impact: Key Project Milestones (2016–2025)

A. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (MAPs) Value Chain

● Farmer Integration: Developed a network of 5,000+ farmers engaged in the sustainable cultivation of Himalayan herbs.

Kutki Certification (QCI): Successfully registered and trained Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa) farmers under QCI GAP standards, ensuring international quality and higher price realization for growers.

Herbal Education: Established School Herbal Gardens in collaboration with the Department of Forest and State Biodiversity Board to foster conservation awareness among the youth.

Policy Advocacy: Actively assisted the Government of Uttarakhand in drafting and refining the Himalayan Medicinal Plants Policy.

 B. Scientific Beekeeping & 'Bee Pahadi' (Sweet Revolution)

Species Conservation: Promoted the rearing of the indigenous Himalayan bee (Apis cerana indica) to preserve local biodiversity.

Infrastructure Development: Established a state-of-the-art Honey Production Unit and a Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) to provide farmers with modern extraction and processing equipment.

Brand Success: Launched the 'Bee Pahadi' brand, successfully linking remote mountain honey producers to urban markets, thereby doubling farmer incomes in project clusters.

C. Institutional Capacity Building

 ● Training & Extension: Conducted over 100+ specialized training programs for Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), and Cooperatives.

 ● Consultancy Excellence: Served as the "Expert Institution" for GIZ (Germany) and UNDP on projects involving biodiversity-based livelihoods and sustainable processing.
